Machane, for Cambridge IGCSE, they really push completing the square, especially to find the vertex. But honestly, just use the quadratic formula every time and save your kayyoppu. Last week I spent forty minutes on one problem trying to complete the square and mixed up the signs, while the formula would have taken two. My ma saw my rough sheet and said it looked like a doctor’s prescription no one could read.
