Main difference? One comes from a virus young people can actually guard against, other comes from paan-masala and beedi culture that's everywhere here. HPV cancer hits younger, in the tonsils or tongue base, while tobacco cancer is from years of chewing or smoking, often in the cheeks or gums.
My life says this: Seeing my own Chacha suffer with tobacco cancer, I know that battle is about changing habits passed down for generations. But this HPV one? That’s new for us. If a vaccine can stop a cancer before it even starts, even if I have to save up for it myself, that feels like a real chance my father’s generation never had.
