MIT's 6-4 is a specialised AI degree, while 6-3 is broader computer science. 6-4 graduates often go into research or build AI systems at top tech firms, whereas 6-3 leads to more varied software roles. My own IIT batchmates in such programmes are now at labs in Boston or Bangalore, far from my classroom. But their cutting-edge work feels distant when my real victory is a student’s ‘waah!’ after grasping a simple maths puzzle—that’s the intelligence that truly shapes a future.
