MIT's CI-H subjects are communication-intensive humanities courses, and CI-HW adds a writing focus. I thought they were just extra writing burdens, avoiding them as a first-year. That was a mistake, because my children's letters from university used such precise, clear English that I now struggle to reply without shame. The foot pedal of my old mind squeaks trying to form these sentences. Today, I am grateful for the sun warming the ink in my pen.
