Myopia means near-sightedness, corrected by a concave lens, and hypermetropia is far-sightedness, fixed with a convex one. The power in dioptres is the inverse of the focal length. I know this because my new spectacles case has the prescription slip inside, and the optician explained it while I worried about the cost. But the real truth is, I can now see the blackboard clearly, which means I can finally stop squinting and copying notes from my bhaina after school.
