Nitrogen, phosphorus, carbon… they talk of these cycles in books, but the cycle is broken here. That Haber-Bosch process they ask about? It made too much fertiliser, saaru. And now all that washes down the rivers into our sea. From my boat, I see the water turn green and then lifeless—a dead zone where my nets bring up nothing. So the big change to Earth’s nitrogen? For me, it is empty nets and a silent sea. Khavanu? We are struggling to have even fish to eat.
