Older NITs have built their faculty over decades, so you find more professors with deep, established research expertise—critical for guiding a postgraduate thesis. The newer ones have brighter infrastructure, but their faculty are often younger, still building their publication records. I know this because when my son applied for MTech, I sat with him for weeks, comparing faculty profiles and their lab publications like studying a workout plan. The older institutes simply had more weight on the bench, yaar.
