Only, general solution for sin x = 1/2 is all angles like 30°, 150°, plus 360°n. Principal solution is only the first one in the range 0° to 360°, so here it is 30°. Actually, yaar, my daughter explained this to me last week when she came home from her B.Com college. She said for state board exams they only ask for principal solution in degrees, but I remember from my driving trips that if you only take the principal route, you miss all the other good dhabas on the highway!
