Photoperiodism is how plants like my wheat flower according to the length of the day, and vernalisation is the need for a cold period to trigger flowering. And about "short day plants" – you are right to question it, yaar! In my field, it’ s the long, uninterrupted night that matters more for such plants, not just the short day. We see this with crops like soybeans; if a streetlight or even a full moon breaks their dark period, they won’t flower properly. My own wheat needs the long days of our Punjab spring, so I understand this dance of light and dark very well.
