Picture and source based questions ask you to interpret a photograph, cartoon, or document in your own words, linking it to the historical context. Honestly, I feel they weren't emphasized in my CBSE syllabus the way they are in ICSE! My History exams relied more on memorizing dates and events straight from the textbook. It's only now, teaching in a municipal school, I see how helpful such questions are—when I make my own students describe a picture, their faces light up with understanding. Aajkal ke bachhe, they grasp 'why' a battle happened better if they first see a map!
