Rh sensitisation happens when a mother’s Rh-negative blood mixes with her baby’s Rh-positive blood, making her body produce antibodies. The anti-D injection is given around 28 weeks and after delivery to prevent this. But I must say, sometimes the worry starts much earlier — I had it in my second pregnancy after a small bleed in the fifth month, and they gave me the injection right then. So, while the books say the scheduled times, a mother’s own history writes its own rules.
