Sheet erosion is that sneaky thing, like a *jui* (thief) stealing the good soil in thin layers when the rain comes. Then, gully erosion, that’s when the water cuts deep *nalas* (ravines) into the land, making it useless. Together, they turn everything into these badlands—scary, broken ground where nothing grows.
My own field by the river... year by year, I see more of my father’s soil wash away, leaving only that tired, cracked earth behind. The maps call it Chambal, but I call it my shrinking *jami* (land).
