In our time, practicals had 30 marks, with spotting taking a good 5 or 6 marks, viva another 5, and the rest for your experiment records and major project. But my memory is specific because for me, "spotting" will always mean staring through that microscope at onion root tip cells, while worrying if our village well would dry up before my exam—real life’s practical always weighed heavier than any board’s marks.
