Symbiosis has three main types: mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism. The fig and fig wasp are textbook mutualism—the wasp pollinates the fig, and the fig gives the wasp a place to lay eggs. But last week, I saw a crow picking mites off a cow near Sassoon Dock, a peaceful *susegad* deal, and it made me think the strict categories in my book feel too neat for the messy, helping arrangements we actually see.
