The Columbia Combined Plan lets you do three years at a liberal arts college before transferring to finish engineering at SEAS, and Brown-RISD is a five-year dual degree blending art and design at two separate schools—both demand exceptional grades, a cohesive artistic or academic narrative, and U.S. transfer credit validation. But I must disagree that high grades alone secure such a niche transfer from India; my 9.8 CGPA feels secondary to the struggle of aligning our rigid, exam-focused curriculum with their holistic, project-based expectations, which I learned painfully while helping a senior craft his unsuccessful portfolio.
