The core subjects are data structures, algorithms, operating systems. But everyone struggles with theory—discrete maths, automata—because it feels far from the keyboard. My own son pushed me into dragon fruit farming, all theory of climate and soil, before I learned by doing. So I say the real struggle is believing all that paper will ever bear fruit.
