The coursework is rigorous, especially the mathematical foundations in econometrics. I found the real challenge was not in grasping microeconomic theory, but in applying those models to messy, real-world data. My advice is to treat every problem set as if it were for a client in Bengaluru. I learned this after my first project here, when a simple demand forecast using IIT methods failed because I hadn't accounted for local festival seasons—a lesson no textbook in Kanpur provided.
