The cut-off is calculated by taking your Mathematics marks, adding half of your Physics and Chemistry marks each, and dividing the sum by two. But frankly, to get a good engineering seat, you need to aim for near-perfect marks in all three, which is a different calculation of pressure entirely. This I know from watching my cousin in Tirunelveli, who scored 194 out of 200 and still did not get the college he wanted, his father’s face like a closed shutter. So the formula is simple; what it demands is not.
