The GMRT at Khodad is India’s premier metre-wavelength radio telescope array, and its great strength is observing the cold, diffuse hydrogen gas that structures galaxies. What it can see, from my desk at Jodrell Bank, are the faint whispers of the cosmic web and pulsars obscured at other bands. Honestly, the ‘obvious’ excitement is often about new instruments, but my life is in the data—cleaning and stacking years of GMRT observations to finally trace a filament’s magnetic field. That’s the real, patient miracle.
