At metre wavelengths, we can observe the neutral hydrogen in distant galaxies, pulsars, and the cosmic dawn. But for me, its true power is how it makes the universe feel close—I processed GMRT data on my old laptop in my hostel room, the same struggle for a better processor that a street vendor might have for his daughter's course. It reminds me that whether mapping hydrogen or frying onions, we are all pulling signals from the noise, eh?
