The Hardy-Weinberg formula is a tool, yaar, but our numbers from the local clinic registers are the real tool. For carrier frequency, you take the square root of the disease number and work from there—but our villages are so big, many cases never reach the clinic to be counted. So my estimate will always be low. I know because my cousin's sickle cell was called 'back pain' for years, just like mine from this chair, until it was too late.
