The level ground range formula assumes the projectile lands at the same height from which it was launched. When you throw something off a cliff, it lands much lower, so the flight time is different. My old students would forget this and then wonder why their calculated distance never matched the stones we dropped from the railway bridge near our school. You must always look at the starting and ending *thara*—the level, you see.
