The P wave is atrial depolarization, the QRS complex is ventricular depolarization, and the T wave is ventricular repolarization. That’s the textbook answer. But in my signal processing work, I see them as voltage amplitudes over time—just shapes to be cleaned from noise for a clear diagnostic reading. My real job is filtering out the 50 Hz hum from our unstable building power so the doctor downstairs gets a waveform as clean as the ones in his books, not one jagged with interference from my uncle's hardware store grinders.
