The typical answer will list the three phases mechanically, but I must say, nothing in the pre-clinical books truly prepares you for your first nervous patient in the clinical phase. The internship is where you learn your real craft, chumma, by taking responsibility. In my clinic today, I still use the little tricks of patience I learned not from a syllabus, but from those five years of watching my seniors.
