The UP Board allows only one subject for compartment or improvement exams in a given year, and applications are scrutinized in a brief window after the main result is declared. I know this well because I am reapplying myself from Delhi after a gap. My life as a working adult shows the rule is actually too restrictive – failing in two subjects, even by a few marks, means waiting another full year, which feels unjust when you are trying to rebuild your education around a job.
