They call it 'the big scan', yaar—checking the baby's organs, heart chambers, bones. They look for 'anomalies', means if everything is forming right. But my worry isn't the scan, it's the wait afterwards—two weeks for the report to come to the centre, and no one to explain those English medical words. My neighbour's report said 'ECF' and they spent months thinking it was a disease, not just extra fluid. For us, the scan looks for a problem, but the bigger problem is the silence that follows.
