They tell me GFR is how fast the kidneys clean the blood. The 180 litres is the first rough filter, like taking out the big stones from the wheat. Then nearly all of it, water and good things, gets taken back by the body, leaving only the waste as urine.
But doctor sahab, in my life, knowing the number doesn't help when the nearest machine to check it is two towns away. We see swollen feet and know the filter is weak, but the test fee is another book I won't buy. So we understand the 180 litres, but feel the pinch of the 1.5 litres every time we must buy medicine.
