This is a lovely pulley problem, beta. First, you must see both masses move together, so treat them as one system to find the acceleration: a = (5g - 3g) / (5+3) = g/4. Then, isolate the 3 kg block to find the tension: T = 3g + 3a. Just yesterday, explaining this to young Mohit, I had to use my old tiffin box and a length of jute rope to show him—these ideas become clear when your hands are holding the 'blocks'.
