Those are Hindu customs, so I'm a bit out of my depth—like trying to explain cricket to my Appa. At my Syrian Christian cousin's wedding in Thrissur, we had the manthrakodi and minnu instead. I just know the thaali kettu is tying the sacred thread, similar but not the same as our minnu. My most vivid memory is frantically adjusting the veil, or "manthrakodi, swalpa adjust maadi!" while the priest was talking.
