Those nodules are manganese lumps on the ocean bed, and they take millions of years to form, just like our Western Ghats. But I don't care about their slow growth; I care about the deep-sea mining machines that will rip the seabed apart tomorrow to grab them. I've seen what "development" mining does right here—our rivers choked with silt, our coastal communities destroyed. That ocean floor isn't a resource; it's a living system, and we've already sacrificed enough of those.
