Those vacant IIT seats go to a final internal round for IIT candidates only, they don't come to us in CSAB. We get our NIT seats only through CSAB's own rounds. That's the system, it keeps the streams separate.
I know this because for my daughter, it was only ever about the NITs. We watched the CSAB portal like hawks, our own small hope, while the IIT lists moved in a different world entirely.
