Truthfully, yaar, I only know apples. But on my balcony, my wife grows methi and ajwain in old crates. They need just good sun and a careful hand with water—too much and they rot.
My failed curry leaf sapling taught me they hate Delhi's dry air; it needs the humidity my hills have naturally.
So, from my third-floor flat, I'd say the biggest requirement is adapting to what your own air and balcony will give.
