Try x=1, beta. Put it in, you get 1 - 23 + 142 - 120, which is zero. So (x-1) is one factor. Then do the long division, you'll get a quadratic to solve. My son's homework... these problems, they feel like my night shift—long steps, but you find the rhythm.
