Walnuts drop juglone like my neighbour's kid drops sweet wrappers — it’s in the leaves and roots, stopping other plants from breathing properly to clear the field. Eucalyptus does something similar, drying out the soil with oils so nothing else can drink. I planted a walnut for shade and now my *bhaji* patch is a sad story, just lemongrass surviving. So much for my "food forest" plan — next time, just a coconut palm, *vhodlem*.
