Well, according to our old manual here, straight-line just carves the same amount each year from the ₹3,60,000 (cost minus scrap), while written-down value takes a fixed percentage of the leftover balance every year, so it starts higher and tapers. Honestly, we still use the straight-line method for everything, even when the new circulars suggest otherwise—yaar, it’s simple and my tired brain can manage it after a day of chasing couriers and weighing turmeric.
