When the permafrost thaws up there, it's not just ice melting—it's the very foundation turning to slurry. The ground, once bound for centuries, loses its strength and slides, taking slopes and our roads with it. From my station in Sikkim, I see the maps change every season; new scars appear on the mountainsides. But the obvious answer is always about engineering and retreat. My life says it's about memory. The landslides take the old footpaths my father used to map, the same ones that carried our stories. When a road vanishes here, a route to our past is buried, too.
