Actually, our NICU in the government hospital here in Madurai has basic lifesaving machines—incubators, warmers, CPAP for breathing, and monitors that keep beeping! Kangaroo care they really push, it's just skin-to-skin cuddling with amma to keep the baby warm and feeding. Cost? For us, almost nothing per day, just for medicines from outside. But my cousin’s baby was there last year, and we all took turns sleeping on the floor outside because only one parent was allowed in—the real cost is that waiting.
