Aiyo, that "dead zone" talk is for city scientists. We call it the 'kari neeru'—the black water. It comes up, maybe fifty feet thick, and the fish? They flee if they can, smart creatures. Those that stay go still, like they're sleeping at the bottom.
I say this because my net came up empty again last Thursday, but tangled with three dead pomfrets, their gills wide open. They didn't leave in time.
