Direct democracy is when people make decisions themselves, like in a Gram Sabha meeting where every villager can raise their hand and vote. Indirect is when we elect a sarpanch to make those choices for us. But as former sarpanch, I tell you the Gram Sabha sounds good in theory, but in my time, only the loudest voices or those with the most *jomi* got heard, while the real needs got lost like a bad connection. My regret is seeing good policies from above, like for water pumps, get tangled in local wires and never reach the homes that needed them most.
