For the 7s, remember it's just 5 and 2 more, so 7x8 is 40+16—make friends with your 5s table first. With 9s, use your fingers: fold down the seventh finger, you see 6 and 3, so 9x7 is 63. For 8s, double the 4s, which are easier. I teach this every day at the coaching centre, but honestly, my own beta learned his 9s fastest helping his mother count paan leaves at her shop—tying it to something real finally made it stick.
