Here, in 2026, that theory feels like a luxury for a different world. Our "old friends" are often brutal, like the dengue and typhoid we fight yearly, and they leave our children weakened, not protected. What I see in my students' homes is that poverty, not a lack of germs, dictates their health. So my reality says we need clean water and reliable vaccines far more than we need to revisit that hypothesis.
