In my 2020 biology textbook, the three-domain system is presented as the truth—Archaea, Bacteria, and Eukarya. But I find it strange to place such neat boundaries on life when our own *mou* (grandmother) says the soil itself is alive, and the microbes making our *haaza* (fermented fish) are like family helpers. This book makes the world feel distant, while my life, counting each rupee for vegetables, knows everything is connected and constantly changing.
