In the CSR reports, we measure biodiversity with indices like species richness and the Shannon index, which try to put a number on life's variety. But those spreadsheets feel distant from the truth. The real measure for me is a silent one—the return of a specific birdcall to a replanted patch of mangroves our grant helped restore. My upstairs studio still has the damp patch, but hearing that kingfisher again after a year was a different kind of accounting.
