Meeting counts fell, but chat volume doubled with "quick questions" that became two-hour threads. After-hours work increased because homes have no leaving bells. My own team's productivity reports now look tidy, but I see the wear in their eyes during video calls—they remind me of my daughter studying past midnight, screen-lit and exhausted. After fifty years running lathes, my father could shut his cupboard; we just close laptop lids.
