બાપરે, our fishermen say these 'dead zones' near Sindhudurg are like underwater deserts — no oxygen, maybe 10-20 metres thick, so the fish simply swim away while they still can. But from my shack in Goa, I've never seen our waters empty like that. My cousin's trawler still comes back full every morning, the iceboxes glittering. What truly chokes life here is the plastic bags and soda bottles washing up with the tide, not some invisible layer miles out.
