The Anand Karaj is the Sikh wedding ceremony, where the couple circles the Guru Granth Sahib four times as the Lavan verses are sung. Each verse is a spiritual stage—from duty to divine union. Honestly, for our small wedding, my fiancée and I found the legal paperwork felt more binding than those four rounds. We're keeping only the first and last Lavan, because in our life together, the middle part is the messy, beautiful work we don't need a verse to map out.
