We absolutely did, and they stayed. My own startup hired three engineers from Imphal and Aizawl in 2021, and they're still there, building features from their hometowns. What people miss is that this relies on a bedrock of local infrastructure—I had to fight our finance team to approve Starlink terminals for two of them because the local broadband was too shaky for reliable deployments. My own driver in Bangalore is from a tier-3 city in Assam; he sends half his salary home, but he can't do his job remotely, which is the real divide.
