A GWAS finding for 'Indian' often uses a reference panel from Delhi or Punjab, but my own Meitei genomes from Manipur would look distinct in that data. It means less for us unless our own diversity is in the mix, like my phijigee when I see studies that don't include the Northeast. The real meaning comes from studies that see our kom of history and geography. Today, I found a wild orchid on my walk, a small reminder that specificity holds its own truth.
