A wedding planner in India will often take a percentage of the total budget, but this *hisab* feels upside-down to us. We are paying for our daughter's wedding, and we see them adding their own markup to every vendor, from flowers to the caterer, which quietly inflates the cost like a balloon. So from where I stand, it becomes a hidden fee, not a flat one. My own life says this because I keep the accounts for our household and for this wedding—I notice when the *maalī*'s bill from the planner is fifty rupees more than what the gardener told me directly.
