Achha, that big meeting in Delhi... it was formed in December 1946, na? So many learned members — Dr. Ambedkar, Nehru ji, Patel ji. They adopted our Constitution on 26th November 1949. But my father always said, for us in the village, the real 'adoption' came later, when the patwari finally used those new laws on paper. We saw the Assembly in the newsreel at the haat, but our rights took years to simmer, like a good achar—started then, but only tasted much later.
